Akademihotellet is a small, charming hotel with a great location in the heart of Uppsala’s historic quarter, between the castle and the cathedral, near Uppsala university and the city centre. A perfect stay for both business and pleasure.
Our cozy hotel rooms offer charm and interior details from the 1930’s when the house was built, with views facing either the neighborhood of Pelle Svanslös (Peter No-Tail, a famous Swedish literary character), or our courtyard and the Uppsala cathedral. In many of our rooms, you will find more about the history of Uppsala and its historical figures. We call them Rooms with history.
In addition to our 42 hotel rooms, we offer four meeting and conference rooms for up to 40 people and a hotel bar in a warm and friendly atmosphere, with a bar menu served daily from 11 am to 10 pm (the kitchen closes at 9:30 pm).
We also have a sauna with showers and a small relaxation area.

Akademihotellet expands with 13 individually designed hotel rooms in the historical building Clasonska gården next to Akademihotellet. This new part of the hotel opens late autumn 2025. Read more here.

Vernissage Saturday January 4 from 1 am to 4 am Exhibition Landscape pictures from beautiful Europe, by photographer Bengt Ahlberg. The exhibition runs from Jan 4 to Jan 31 2025 and can be seen every day during the hotel’s opening hours from 7 am to 10 pm. Curator: Kajsa Haglund Welcome!

Hotel rooms in the main building
Akademihotellet’s cozy hotel rooms are renovated with unique wallpapers and interior details as well as modern elements inspired from the 1930’s. The rooms offer bathrooms with showers and lovely underfloor heating as well as the hotel’s own shampoo, conditioner, soap, and body lotion. On the top floor, we also offer Economy rooms with charming, slanted ceilings, WC, and access to a showers in the corridor.
Check-in from 3 pm and check-out no later than 11 am.
Boutique hotel with a golden touch
New additional hotel building, opens late autumn 2025
Next to Akademihotellet, in the heart of the academic Uppsala, is Clasonska gården. This historical building is undergoing a gentle renovation in order to open up 13 individually designed rooms in the late autumn of 2025. All the eras that the building has lived through, from the 18th century onwards, are represented in the house’s interior and as a hotel guest you will be invited to come along on a journey through time inspired by the different centuries in the house.
