Welcome to our cozy hotel located in the heart of Uppsala!

Akademihotellet is the hotel for you who travel on business or private and appreciate a cozy, small hotel with a personal atmosphere and charm. When you stay with us, you are in Uppsala’s historic surroundings and can easily discover what the city has to offer. Perfectly located between the Uppsala castle and the Uppsala cathedral with proximity to the universities, the Akademiska sjukhus (hospital) and within walking distance to the city center with shops, restaurants, parks, culture and entertainment!

Who we are

Akademihotellet is a cozy hotel owned by Uppsala Akademiförvaltning. The hotel building has a long history from the 1930s and was built by the Uppsala Student Union to provide students with their own housing, which came to be known as “Gubbhyllan”.

In the 1960s, the house was converted into a course yard and since then the business has been transformed into a hotel and conference business, which is the business that Akademihotellet still conducts. With us, the story lives on.

What we offer at Akademihotellet

Akademihotellet offers 42 cozy, charming hotel rooms bright nice conference rooms for up to 50 people. The hotel also has several small cozy seats on the ground floor with a beautiful view of the cathedral.

In many of our hotel rooms, Uppsala’s history is highlighted, an opportunity for hotel guests to learn more about Uppsala and the city’s historical profiles. We call them Rooms with history.

After a good night’s sleep in our charming hotel rooms, we serve a breakfast buffet with, among other things, freshly baked bread, cold cuts, yogurt with cereals, fruit, berries, fresh ginger shots and smoothies, boiled eggs, juice, tea, chocolate and locally roasted coffee from Lindvall’s coffee.

In our hotel bar we offer a bar menu with some tasty things to eat and drink. Enjoy the warm and friendly atmosphere with views facing the cathedral.

At the reception there are souvenirs and toiletries for sale. We are happy to help you with recommendations on places to visit, guided tours and restaurants nearby.

At our hotel you can always find
